Deck out your Heirlooms

Chest

Level 1-60
Prior to patch 5.4 Enchant Chest – Greater Stats (+4 all stats) was sufficient to level to 85.  With the recent introduction of scaling enchants, this is not always the case.  You may keep Enchant Chest – Greater Stats if you already have it on there.  The enchant gives you the most stats up to level 60.  For the next 25 levels you could keep the enchant or change it.

Level 61-70
Enchant Chest – Exceptional Stats (+6 all stats) which will net you 2 more stats from Enchant Chest – Greater Stats.

Level 71-80
Enchant Chest – Powerful Stats (+10 all stats) will net you 6 more stats from Enchant Chest – Greater Stats or 4 more stats from Enchant Chest – Exceptional Stats.

Level 81-85
Enchant Chest – Peerless Stats (+20 all stats) or Enchant Chest – Glorious Stats (+20 all stats).  They both provide the same benefit so just pick up whichever one is cheaper.  You could just enchant your chest with either enchant from level 1, you will loose out on 1-2 stats at lower levels.  For the first 60 levels it won’t make much of a difference.

Shoulder

Greater Tiger Fang Inscription – Only other option would be Greater Inscription of Jagged Stone which is only purchasable while being Exalted with the faction Therazane.  They both provide the following stats:

Level 1-60 (+8 Strength and 4 critical strike)
Level 61-70 (+10 Strength and 5 critical strike)
Level 71-80 (+20 Strength and 10 critical strike)
Level 81-85 (+50 Strength and 25 critical strike)

Cloak

Enchant Cloak – Greater Critical Strike – Only viable option.  Provides highest possible critical strike at all levels.

Level 1-60 (+10 critical strike)
Level 61-70 (+13 critical strike)
Level 71-80 (+26 critical strike)
Level 81-85 (+65 critical strike)

Legs

Angerhide Leg Armor – Only viable option.

Level 1-60 (+11 Strength and 6 critical strike)
Level 61-70 (+14 Strength and 8 critical strike)
Level 71-80 (+28 Strength and 16 critical strike )
Level 81-85 (+71 Strength and 41 critical strike )

2H Weapon

Level 1-60
Enchant Weapon – Crusader (often heal for 75 to 125 and increase Strength by 100 for 15 sec. when attacking in melee. Has a reduced effect for players above level 60) – Prior to patch 5.4 this enchant was sufficient to level to 85.  With the recent introduction of scaling enchants, this is not the case.  The enchant gives you the biggest Strength buff up to level 60.  Both weapons can proc the +100 Strength buff at the same time.  If both weapons proc the buff +100 Strength they stack.

Enchant Weapon – Dancing Steel – Only viable option above level 60.

Level 61-70 (sometimes increase your Strength or Agility by 82 when dealing melee damage. Your highest stat is always chosen)
Level 71-80 (sometimes increase your Strength or Agility by 165 when dealing melee damage. Your highest stat is always chosen)
Level 81-85 (sometimes increase your Strength or Agility by 412 when dealing melee damage. Your highest stat is always chosen)

Specialization

Arms

Level 1-37
I was Arms the first 37 levels. You won’t be able to dual-wield Hardened Arcanite Reaper until you get Titan’s Grip.  You might as well get the full benefit of only using a 2H weapon and level as Arms.  For tips on how to level a Warrior visit gotwarcraft.com.  I used this guide when I first started to level my warrior.

Get Dual Talent Specialization at level 30 for 10 G.

Fury

Level 38-90
This is a Fury Guide.  We are leveling Fury!  Who wants to be a badass dual-wielding Hardened Arcanite Reaper all night long?  >>> This guy.

Talents

They are easily interchangeable and dependent on your situation I recommend this base spec.

Glyphs

Major

Major Glyphs can make or break your DPS. Choose wisely yet they are also easily interchangeable.  Your first glyph slot becomes available at level 25.  I recommend the following:

Glyph of Bull Rush (Generates more rage) – If you find yourself not using Charge often replace with another glyph.
Glyph of Unending Rage (ability to store more rage) – Useful for having more rage to get Execute off or for just using abilities.
Glyph of Executor (basically gives you a free Execute if you exterminate someone) – Very Situational. Only useful if you are able to get off the killing blow.  I do recommend this one at level 75 when your third glyph slot becomes available.

Minor

Minor glyphs are cosmetic.  I would use them as visual indicators that abilities worked.

Glyph of Crow Feast – Since Execute is your make or break your DPS ability, it doesn’t hurt to know if it went off.
Glyph of Burning Anger – You burn up when Enraged.  I am so ANGRY.  Then you use  Raging Blow.
Glyph of the Blazing Trail – I wonder if the fire leaves scorch marks?

Rotation priority after level 38 as Fury

Prioritize your action bar. Don’t read into guides too much. You need to live and learn the class.  Everyone just reads one guys input about a particular spec being bad and does not even consider trying it out for themselves.

Study your tool tips. I feel as a player base we take the tool tips for granted and don’t consider what they are trying to convey to us. Use the mobile app while you are on the bus. That’s what I did.

It wasn’t until I reread my tool tips, reconsidered my skill priorities(after level 47 or so), and implemented macros(after level 50) that my DPS went off the screen.

Single Target

The rotation priority has been verified by me between levels 47 and 54, but all the abilities listed are available before level 37. So for 10 levels I might have been doing it wrong eg, Heroic Stike used to be at the front of the list but then I never had enough rage to perform an Execute.

Charge while the Tank is pulling. Charge will generate rage.

Execute > Bloodthirst (generate rage and self heal) > Impending Victory (self heal) > Wild StrikeRaging Blow > Heroic Strike (dump Rage)

Fury Warriors generate rage from Charge, Bloodthrist, and auto attacks. 30 Rage is required to perform your Execute.

Execute is your friend. If you are unable to get off an execute before level 50 its okay. Neither did I.  Try to save your rage for Execute and you can also do 2 Executes in a row if you keep your rage above 60.

Execute will make you top the charts every time.

If Bloodsurge procs… Execute > Wild Strike x3 > all

Use Charge often to generate rage. Use Heroic Strike  to dump excess Rage but save enough Rage for at least 1 Execute.

Use Berserker Rage(level 52) often and use Recklessness(level 62) whenever you want to kill something fast.

Rotation at level 81
We get Colossus Smash and it now has priority over everything else except your first Bloodthrist.

AOE

If more than 3 targets I would use Whirlwind.

Macros

After I implemented these macros and put them to use I noticed an increase in DPS. I started to use these after level 50. I would recommend setting them up at your lowest possible level. I got the idea for these macros after watching a Sensus macro guide for Rogues.

These macros were designed to always be hitting stuff. You will mostly use them to quest or do 5 mans.

Remember…

Always be hitting to generate rage, use your other abilities before dumping rage with Heroic Strike and save enough rage for 1-2 Executes.

#showtooltip Bloodthirst
/targetenemyplayer [noexists]
/targetenemy [noexists]
/cast Bloodthirst
/startattack

Stances

As a Fury warrior you only generate rage by hitting stuff in Battle Stance. You don’t tank, you won’t be in Defensive Stance and getting hit to generate rage. You might PVP in Berserker Stance to generate rage while attacking and while being hit but in a PVP scenario you are more likely to focus on getting off Execute.

Leveling Tips

Don’t get discourage. The Protection warrior at lower levels are just mad cause you have x2 Hardened Arcanite Reaper and they spent all their time getting the tanking heirloom set. If you want to level Protection or Arms then why are you reading this guide? Did you buy 2 heirloom axes?  If so, stick to Fury.

Fury DPS gets the job done and at low levels it doesn’t matter.

PVP – Yes I said it! – PVP

PVP for honor before each level bench mark(28, 40, 48, 58). I usually queue 1-2 levels before hand. PVP helps you level. You will also net a belt and a pair of boots. The boots increase your run speed.

Level 28 PVP Armor Pieces (Mail)

Highlander’s Mail Greaves – 45 Honor Points

Highlander’s Mail Girdle  – 45 Honor Points

Level 40 PVP Armor Pieces (Plate)

Highlander’s Plate Greaves – 55 Honor Points

Highlander’s Plate Girdle – 55 Honor Points

Level 48 PVP Armor Pieces

Highlander’s Plate Greaves – 70 Honor Points

Highlander’s Plate Girdle – 70 Honor Points

Level 58 PVP Armor Pieces

Highlander’s Plate Greaves– 85 Honor Points

Highlander’s Plate Girdle — 85 Honor Points

Don’t die during the BG, you will loose out on Honor. Just run away if the odds are stacked against you. You are farming Honor for gear. Finish the objectives for more honor. Win for bonus honor.

Professions

Do the fishing and cooking daily for profession levels and experience.

Pick up a gathering profession or two for Experience points. (Mining and/or Herbalism)

Pick up first aid to heal yourself between pullls and to use up that excess cloth

Pick up Archaeology for fun. It can also give you experience points. It is easier to level once you get flying at level 60.

Riding

Use your Stormwind Tabard until exalted so you can get a discount on riding and your flying license at level 60. Use your guild tabard once exalted with Stormwind.

Darkmoon Faire

Darkmoon Faire artifacts give Experience points and tickets. Get a Darkmoon Storage Box for an easy to obtain 16 slot bag.

Dungeon Quests

Queue up for dungeons for awesome quest rewards. At Level 68, I replaced my neck with Razor-Blade Pendant, ring with Executioner’s Band, and wrist with Vambraces of the Vengeance Bringer in Utgarde Keep.   The Nexus opened up and  I replaced my gloves with Gauntlets of the Disturbed Giant and my boots with Boots of the Unbowed Protector. Queue up for specific dungeons to replace your gear when leveling at the cusp levels when going from Outlands to Northend, from Northend to Cataclysm, from Cataclysm to Mists of Pandaria.

Auction House

AH is not your friend below level 70 except at level 40

From the AH only buy a piece of plate gear or so at level 40. You could upgrade your wrist and hands if you follow this write up.  Plate is a fat upgrade from mail.

AH is your friend at level 70, 80, and 85

You will start replacing your Outland gear for Northend BOEs at level 70 so you can queue for Northend Dungeons, do the same thing going from Northend to Cataclysm, and Cataclysm to Mist of Pandaria.

Level 70 BOEs – Cobalt Battlegear

If you obtained all the Heirlooms mentioned above, you should only fill the slots not filled by a heirloom.  I obtain BOEs for 2 reasons.

  1. The substantial increase in Armor and way higher Stat itemization from going from Outland blues and greens to Northend blues and greens(Strength, Stamina, etc).
  2. For the higher item level so you may queue for the WotLK dungeons and obtain some blues from the quest rewards. You might have to purchase a BOE neck from the AH if your item level is too low to queue.

If you craft the gear you won’t need to worry about random stats.  You may start equipping some of these greens at level 68.

Gear

Cobalt Belt (142) – Craft for x4 Cobalt Bar or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 70

Cobalt Boots  (142) – Craft for x4 Cobalt Bar or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 70

Cobalt Bracers  (142) – Craft for x4 Cobalt Bar or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 70

Cobalt Gauntlets  (142) – Craft for x5 Cobalt Bar or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 70

I know it is a tanking set but it is the first available set at this level.  It might be cheaper to craft these pieces depending on the price of the bars on your server.

Level 80 BOEs – Redsteel Plate

If you obtained all the Heirlooms mentioned above, you should only fill the slots not filled by a heirloom.  I obtain the BOEs for 2 reasons.

  1. The substantial increase in Armor and way higher Stat itemization from going from Northend blues and greens to Cataclysm blues and greens(Strength, Stamina, etc).
  2. For the higher item level so you may queue for the Cataclysm dungeons and obtain some blues from the quest rewards.  You might have to purchase a BOE neck and/or rings from the AH if your item level is too low to queue.

If you craft the gear you will need to worry about random stats.  The pieces should sell for a decent amount of gold if you decide to craft.  You may start equipping some of these greens at level 80.

The Cataclysm expansion introduced random Enchants.  Luckily for the Plate classes it does not apply to this Redsteel set except for the rings.

List random enchants

Gear

Redsteel Gauntlets (289) – Craft for x3 Folded Obsidium or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 80

Redsteel Bracers (289) – Craft for x3 Folded Obsidium or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 80

Redsteel Belt (316) – Craft for x4 Folded Obsidium and x1 Volatile Earth or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 81

Redsteel Boots (316) – Craft for x5 Folded Obsidium or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 81

It might be cheaper to craft these pieces depending on the price of the metal on your server.

Finger

It is also time to replace your Dread Pirate Ring.

Jasper Ring (285) – Craft for x1 Jeweler’s Setting, x1 Jasper or purchase from the AH.  It might easier to purchase this item off the AH depending on the price of gems and that there are more possible random enchantments. Requires level 79

Signet of the Scorned (409) – Super Rare Drop from Pandaria or if you are lucky to purchase one off the AH for cheap. Requires level 80

Seal of a Thousand Scars (425) – Super Rare Drop from Pandaria or if you are lucky to purchase one off the AH for cheap. Requires level 82

2H Weapon

Fellsworth’s Repetitive Greataxe (425) – Super Rare Drop from Pandaria or if you lucky to purchase one off the AH for cheap. If one drops for you sell it. If you decide to keep it or buy it you will only do amazing DPS for 3 to 4 levels. Requires level 82

Level 85 BOEs – Brick Battleplate (Recolor)

It is now time to drop all the Heirlooms.  When I did this on my Deathknight pieces ranged from 60 G – 400 G on the AH.  I spent about 2,000 G total to fill all my slots except trinkets.  Crafting these BOEs sounds like a good way to make money for them mounts?  Remember I obtain the BOEs for 2 reasons.

  1. The substantial increase in Armor and way higher Stat itemization from going from Cataclysm blues and greens to MoP blues and greens(Strength, Stamina, etc).
  2. For the higher item level so you may queue for the MoP dungeons and obtain some blues from the quest rewards. You might have to purchase a BOE neck and/or rings from the AH if your item level is too low to queue.

If you craft the gear you will need to worry about random stats.  The pieces should sell for a decent amount of gold if you decide to craft.  You may start equipping these greens at level 85.

Mists of Pandaria introduced the chance of crafted gear being crafted into a blue.  You have a chance to get a piece of green gear with a 384 item level or blue gear with a 415 item level. I don’t recommend trying to obtain the 415s from the AH.  They are ranging anywhere from 500 – 2000 G on my server.

    +359 Stamina , +239 Strength , +159 Critical Strike , +159 Mastery
