Transmog or Transmogrification is something new to the World of Warcraft and a part of Patch 4.3.  When it was first announced, my first thought was, “Well… that’s useless.”

The new feature was first announced back in August and a little after you would see in trade chat “/2 LFG BWL for transmog run” or “/2 LFG BT transmog run.”  Everyone and their sons were doing old raid content from vanilla to BC and beyond.  It was amazing! Trade was alive again.  People and their toons had a reason to do old raids.

Trade is still alive with people putting together old raids.  After Patch 4.3 went live, everyone and their mothers were honing some oldie but goodie gears.  People were  unique in the game, people were putting together matching sets, and they just look amazing.  I never thought a feature that was so useless to me would actually make the game richer.

No one inspired me more than my guild leader.  We decided to do a Firelands pug after the patch went live and she went in wearing a truly unique matching set.  It looked so good.  I was impressed.  Someone that I knew actually used this feature and it works.

So here she is in all her priest sexiness and glory:

The Gear - Absolution Regalia

The Weapon – Frostscythe of Lord Ahune

The Mount – Deathcharger’s Reins

Then I decided to make my own transmog set.  I came up with:

The Gear – Nordrassil Harness

The Weapon - Pillar of Ferocity

Well there you go.  You can now enjoy killing old raid bosses for fun and obtain really old entirely useless gear except to use as a transmog item, create an entirely new outfit, and look amazing.  Especially now with Patch 4.3.2 you can enjoy doing these raids with some IRL friends that you have on real ID that you never play with because you are on different servers.  Good job Blizzard.  This is why World of Warcraft is the top MMO in the industry.  They keep just sucking you back in to the game.

Inside The Forlorn Mine _NPCscan went off while Maintaining Discipline for the White Polar Bear mount. I figured it was on the flight path circling Brunnhildar village. Time-Lost Proto-Drake flies around counter clock wise so I did too.  After seconds of not finding him I realized I might not catch up and to fly the opposite way.

Humanoid tracking was on so I had to turn on dragonkin tracking.  The beast was not on path highlighted by _NPCscan Overlay.  For whatever reason I had a hard time getting aggro flying by him.  I was scared someone else was going to come.  The stubborn dragon did not want to follow me.  When I finally got aggro, I landed near the edge of Brunnhildar village.

Right-clicked the dragon hoping my Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket went off.  It came close enough that I started to shoot it. Pet was on passive. Turned on defensive. Killed it. Looted mount and took screen shots then got wife aggro for playing.

Edit:

I rewrote it a bit.

The Mammoth dropped in a 10 man VOA.  Read more to see what happened…

If I get into trouble for posting that screen shot then I don’t care.  The raid leader and master looter and a fellow hunter ninja’d the Mammoth.

As you can see, soon after it dropped, he took it for himself and left the raid group.  There was no roll on it.

What a rip off.  We were all pissed.  I’ll let you know what Blizzard does about it.

Please don’t ninja stuff.  If you can’t solo content and get the item by yourself then you have no sole rights to it.  If you do your server will remember you and not raid with you.  You will be playing alone before you know it.

Aye!

I know I haven’t used that word in a long time.  My long time druid friend now a hunter friend, Ironweaver, started his own blog in his own voice and I remembered once I had a voice too.  Please visit his awesome up and coming blog at:

IRONWEAVER.WORDPRESS.COM

So far the bastard has caught all 4 spirit beasts and found the Time-Lost Proto Drake.  Even out rolled me in a couple of pugs that I invited him to on gear I would love to have.  Keep it in the guild, right?  I inspired him to start this blog and become a hunter.

When his main was his druid I remember him telling me, “You know why I love being a druid?”  I said, “No.”  He said, “You get to be your own p—y.”  Then he transformed into his running form and dashed away.

This one is for you, Ironweaver.

Some miscellaneous pictures that were sitting in my Screen Shot folder…

No need wait for Cataclysm we got your Worgen right here.  We will miss you Frostfang.

I camped pretty much all day and when I went back for the end of the night.

I flew in to the area above Brunnhildar Village.  Saw him standing there.  Dismounted.  Dismissed pet. Dropped the Freezing Trap.  Forgot where tame pet was on my action bar.  Found it.  Then started to tame.  Yelled for my wife to come see.  Tamed him.  Hugged her.  Told her a bunch of stuff she didn’t understand.  It was around 2 am server time.  Then I started shaking.  Told my wife that, “This is the rarest pet in the game.”  She still didn’t understand.  I started to calm down a little.  People in the area started to come by.  I called 2 of my friends that play WoW.  I hearthed back to Dalaran after I fed him.

I can’t believe it.  My first spirit beast.  I can’t believe I actually was shaking.  Thanks Blizzard.  Only you could create such a emotional response from a game.  I also found Vyragosa in the same spot earlier and killed it.

UPDATE:

I didn’t have the heart to change his name.  I left it Skoll.

Here are more screen shots:

I mean it.  Gearing up sucks.  I just spent the gold I was going to spend on dual specs to gear up some.  Now instead of 300 Gold behind I am about 700 Gold behind.  Not sure either since I didn’t look at how much gold I had after I geared up.  I hit Revered with Knights Ebon of Blade tonight and I’m exhausted.  I picked up the 2H sword Runeblade of Demonstrable Power, the shoulder pad Spaulders of the Black Arrow, and the head enchant Arcanum of Torment.  I spent time traveling to the Sons of Hodir goods dealer so I could pick up the Lesser Inscription of the Axe shoulder enchant.  Not exalted with Sons of Hodir yet.  Went to the Auction House in Dalaran to get the 85 attack power enchant for the new sword.  I feel super strong but lacking in the gold department.  Oh well.  The guide about making gold for the level 70 epic flying mount and duel specs is in the works.

Another place I found useful to gear up is at the Argent Tournament grounds and running that 5 man instance Trial of the Champion.  This subject and gear list will be another post.
