Hunter Heirlooms, BOEs & BOAs list, PVP Armor

image

Hey everyone,

I will consider this my first major Mist of Pandaria Hunter guide.  Being a dad, working full-time, and tending to the wife has taken up more time than I anticipated.  This list is for all those World of Warcraft players who finally decided to roll a Hunter.  I have mentioned obtaining the BOEs while I was leveling my Rogue and I have used the same tactic to level my Deathknight.  The Hunter class will always be my soul and it’s time to give back to the Hunter community. Enjoy!

Tabards

Stormwind Tabard – You will want reputation discounts for vendor discounts and discounts on riding/flying training. It will save you over 1,000 G while leveling. Any city with a flying trainer will do.

Renowned Guild Tabard – Guild reputation will net you some more Heirlooms and other rewards. It will also help you contribute to any guild achievements used to unlock guild rewards.

Heirlooms

The best way to obtain these awesome leveling pieces of gear is through Justice Points or the Darkmoon Faire.  You may also use Champion’s Seals if you are in to doing things for the Argent Tournament.  I actually use the Darkmoon Prize Ticket to upgrade the chest, shoulders, trinkets, and weapons.

Helm

Tarnished Raging Berserker’s Helm – You may obtain this helm with a guild at level 20 and reaching Honored reputation with your guild. Purchase from a guild vendor for 1,500 G with no vendor discount. Require levels 1 to 85. No upgrade needed. +10% EXP

Champion Herod’s Shoulder – You may obtain this shoulder from an assortment of vendors for 2,175 Justice Points or 110 Darkmoon Prize Ticket, or 60 Champion’s Seals.  Require levels 1 to 80.  You may upgrade them to Grand Champion Herod’s Shoulder for 870 Justice Points or 44 Darkmoon Prize Ticket. +10% EXP

Chest

Champion’s Deathdealer Breastplate – You may obtain this chest from an assortment of vendors for 2,175 Justice Points or 110 Darkmoon Prize Ticket, or 60 Champion’s Seals.  Require levels 1 to 80.  You may upgrade them to Furious Deathdealer Breastplate for 870 Justice Points or 44 Darkmoon Prize Ticket. +10% EXP

Legs

Tarnished Leggings of Destruction – You may obtain these leggings with a guild who has obtained the guild achievement Working Better as a Team.  Purchase from a guild vendor for 1,750 G with no vendor discount.  Require levels 1 to 85.  No upgrade needed. +10% EXP

Ring

Dread Pirate Ring – The Ring is obtained from the Fishing Tournament.  Good luck! Require levels 1 to 80. No upgrade option. +5% EXP

Bow

Charmed Ancient Bone Bow – You may obtain this bow from an assortment of vendors for 3,500 Justice Points or 160 Darkmoon Prize Ticket, or 95 Champion’s Seals.  Require levels 1 to 80.  You may upgrade the bow to War-Torn Ancient Bone Bow for 1,400 Justice Points or 64 Darkmoon Prize Ticket. No EXP bonus.

Trinket 1

Swift Hand of Justice – You may obtain this trinket from an assortment of vendors for 2,725 Justice Points or 130 Darkmoon Prize Ticket, or 75 Champion’s Seals.  Require levels 1 to 80.  You may upgrade the trinket to Forceful Hand of Justice for 1,090 Justice Points or 60 Darkmoon Prize Ticket. No EXP bonus.

Heirloom Enchants

I will not go over the enchants with a fat list.  Psynister already made one.  I do have my recommendations because they give the most agility at lower levels. You won’t have to change the enchant when you level or if you were to use the heirlooms on other toons. For example equipping the Cloak on a Guardian Druid(Enchant Cloak – Superior Defense) vs a Feral Druid or Rogue(Enchant Cloak – Stealth).  I recommend buying the mats off the AH and finding a enchanter to craft the enchants, it is usually cheaper that way.

Cloak

Enchant Cloak – Stealth +8 Agility, +8 Dodge

Chest

Enchant Chest – Great Stats +4 All Stats

Ranged Weapon Scopes

PVP Armor Pieces – Belt and Boots

There are no heirloom slots for waist and feet.  I rediscovered these awesome sets while leveling my Warrior.  These are also good sets for transitioning from leather to mail.

The boots also increase run speed.  Some of the pieces at the later levels will give you a 2 set bonus.

You may purchase a set from the vendor in Arathi Highlands named Samuel Hawke.  You should be able to obtain enough honor for 1 set from winning  a battleground.  You might run 2-3 battlegrounds depending if you win or loose. While doing the battleground you will gain experience points.

Here is the short but useful list:

Level 28 PVP Armor Pieces (Leather)

Highlander’s Padded Greaves – 45 Honor Points

Highlander’s Padded Girdle  – 45 Honor Points

Level 40 PVP Armor Pieces (Mail)

Highlander’s Chain Greaves – 55 Honor Points

Highlander’s Chain Girdle – 55 Honor Points

Level 48 PVP Armor Pieces

Highlander’s Chain Greaves – 70 Honor Points

Highlander’s Chain Girdle – 70 Honor Points

Level 58 PVP Armor Pieces

Highlander’s Chain Greaves – 85 Honor Points

Highlander’s Chain Girdle — 85 Honor Points

Level 70 BOEs – Frostscale Binding

If you obtained all the Heirlooms mentioned above, you should only fill the slots not filled by a heirloom.  I obtain BOEs for 2 reasons.

  1. The substantial increase in Armor and way higher Stat itemization from going from Outland blues and greens to Northend blues and greens(Agility, Stamina, etc).
  2. For the higher item level so you may queue for the WotLK dungeons and obtain some blues from the quest rewards. You might have to purchase a BOE neck from the AH if your item level is too low to queue.

If you craft the gear you won’t need to worry about random stats.  You may start equipping some of these greens at level 68.

Gear

Frostscale Belt (138) – Craft for x8 Borean Leather or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 68

Frostscale Gloves (142) – Craft for x10 Borean Leather or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 72

Frostscale Boots (146) – Craft for x10 Borean Leather or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 73

Frostscale Bracers (150) – Craft for x12 Borean Leather or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 74

– A four set will increase your Agility by 15.

It might be cheaper to craft these pieces depending on the price of the leather on your server.

Level 80 BOEs – The Big Wave

If you obtained all the Heirlooms mentioned above, you should only fill the slots not filled by a heirloom.  I obtain the BOEs for 2 reasons.

  1. The substantial increase in Armor and way higher Stat itemization from going from Northend blues and greens to Cataclysm blues and greens(Agility, Stamina, etc).
  2. For the higher item level so you may queue for the Cataclysm dungeons and obtain some blues from the quest rewards.  You might have to purchase a BOE neck and/or rings from the AH if your item level is too low to queue.

If you craft the gear you will need to worry about random stats.  The pieces should sell for a decent amount of gold if you decide to craft.  You may start equipping some of these greens at level 80.

The Cataclysm expansion introduced random Enchants.

Random Enchants

Any of the following will do:

  • …of the Galeburst – Stamina, Agility, Hit, Expertise
  • …of the Stormblast – Stamina, Agility, Hit, Critical Strike
  • …of the Windflurry – Stamina, Agility, Critical Strike, Haste
  • …of the Windstorm – Stamina, Agility, Critical Strike, Mastery
  • …of the Zephyr  Stamina, Agility, Haste, Mastery

Gear

Tsunami Boots (289) – Craft for x7 Savage Leather and x1 Eternium Thread or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 80

Tsunami Belt (295) – Craft for x12 Savage Leather and x1 Eternium Thread or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 81

Tsunami Bracers (295) – Craft for x10 Savage Leather and x1 Eternium Thread or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 81

Tsunami Gloves (300) – Craft for x12 Savage Leather and x1 Eternium Thread or purchase for Gold on the AH. Requires Level 82

– A two set will increase Mastery by 60.

It might be cheaper to craft these pieces depending on the price of the leather on your server and the chances to craft the gear with the right enchant .

Finger

It is also time to replace your Dread Pirate Ring.

Jasper Ring (285) – Craft for x1 Jeweler’s Setting, x1 Jasper or purchase from the AH.  It might easier to purchase this item off the AH depending on the price of gems and that there are more possible random enchantments. Requires level 79

Poison Vial Ring (300) – Super Rare Drop or if you are lucky to purchase one of the AH for cheap. Requires level 81

Level 85 BOEs – Stormscale Set

It is now time to drop all the Heirlooms.  When I did this on my Deathknight pieces ranged from 60 G – 400 G on the AH.  I spent about 2,000 G total to fill all my slots except trinkets.  Crafting these BOEs sounds like a good way to make money for them mounts?  Remember I obtain the BOEs for 2 reasons.

  1. The substantial increase in Armor and way higher Stat itemization from going from Cataclysm blues and greens to MoP blues and greens(Agility, Stamina, etc).
  2. For the higher item level so you may queue for the MoP dungeons and obtain some blues from the quest rewards. You might have to purchase a BOE neck and/or rings from the AH if your item level is too low to queue.

If you craft the gear you will need to worry about random stats.  The pieces should sell for a decent amount of gold if you decide to craft.  You may start equipping some of these greens at level 85.

Mists of Pandaria introduced the chance of crafted gear being crafted into a blue.  You have a chance to get a piece of green gear with a 384 item level or blue gear with a 415 item level. I don’t recommend trying to obtain the 415s from the AH.  They are ranging anywhere from 500 – 2000 G on my server.

Random Enchantments

Any of the following will do:

Neck

Shadowfire Necklace (384) or Shadowfire Necklace (415) – Crafted for x1 Jeweler’s Setting, x1 Roguestone, x1 Alexandrite, and x1 Pandarian Garnet or purchase from the AH.   It might easier to purchase this item off the AH depending on the price of gems and that there are more possible random enchantments.

Finger

Ornate Band (384) or Ornate Band (415) – Craft for x1 Jeweler’s Setting, x1 Lapis Lazuli, x1 Tiger Opal, x1 Sunstone or purchase from the AH.  It might easier to purchase this item off the AH depending on the price of gems and that there are more possible random enchantments.

Trinkets

In the beginning of Valley of the Four Winds you will obtain some interesting trinkets from quests but if you mount up and head to Halfhill Trader Jambeezi sells a trinket among other 372 armor.

Faded Forest Medal (372) Purchase for about 13 Gold

Ghost Iron Dragonling (450) Crafted by Engineers for   x12 Windwool Cloth, x8 Ghost Iron Bolts, x4 High-Explosive Gunpowder or purchase from the AH. The benefit from this trinket is being able to choose which secondary stats you want.  It depends on your leveling spec of choice.  Requires level 87
