Which pet vs Casters?

AOE tanking for casters doesn’t work. Why are we AOE tanking casters in the first place? They don’t follow your pet around like melee attackers. They attack from afar and they are squishy. If you know you’ll be going on a quest that requires you to kill casters like the reputation grinds for Scryer or Aldor, then bring your cat, raptop, devilsuar, or any ferocity pet.

Take on the casters one at a time. Your cat will cause them to bleed to death. Your cat will level. You will be happy killing them faster than you did with your gorilla. Now you can feed your fish you got from fishing to your kitty too.

Tour de Northend

I leveled to 67 while in Terrokar Forest.  Then finished the killing spree in Zangarmarsh at level 68.   I quested in Zagarmarsh for the reputation so I can get the Cenarion War Hippogryph later and pick up schematic for the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor!

At level 68, I left Zangarmarsh for the Alliance flight path in Shadowmoon Valley.  I went there so I could come back later and pick up flying.  Aye had too many beers before I left the Sporelings.

With 700 something gold, only mining and first aid maxed out, I headed to Northend.

I’m in Borean Tundra.  I picked up my first couple of quests and headed into the battle field where there were a bunch of spiders killing soldiers.  Now here I am in Valliance Keep making for lists for me fellow hunters and myself.

Northend – Hunter Quest Rewards – Starting Zones

Part 1 – Borean Tundra

Back – For the quest that yields you a Durable Worghide Cape it is a quest reward from a 4 part chain that starts in Borean Tundra. You end up catching a boat to Moa’ki Harbor in Dragonblight.

2H Axe – Blubber Carver.  Easy to obtain.  One of the first quests you can pick up.

Bow – Start with getting this Valiance Longbow.  It is easy to obtain, you get it from killing six big spiders as one of your first quests entering Borean Tundra.

Guns – Yes Guns! You can get G.E.H.T.A. and Fury of the Raging Dragon from 4 part quest chains.

Hands – You finally get to mount a dragon with the second part of a chain that wields you Glimmering Ringmail Gloves.

Waist – You get Plainhunter’s Waistband from the last part of a 4 part chain starting with the quest What’s the Matter with the Transmatter?

Head – Sharkproof Coif is from the last part of a 3 part chain starting with A Father’s Words.  Sounds easy!

Chest – Plainhunter’s Chestpiece

Legs – Rusty Mesh Leggings or Westrift Leggings

Shoulders – Choose from Ethical Epaulettes,  Plainhunter’s Epaulettes, or Spiked Magmoth Mantle.

Tinket – OMG! I’m so in love with Death Knight’s Anguish.

Hey everyone,

I’m still here. I am working on a few posts for the starting zones in Northend, major Hunter glyphs, obtaining gold for your flying mount, and leveling the engineering profession in Outland to atleast level 350.

My WOW playing days have been cut down to atleast 1 day a week. I will try to convince my wife to let me play tonight.

‘Til next time…

Here is a list of Terokkar Forest quest rewards that are useful to Hunters.  I’m skipping the explanations since most of us will pick up quests as we venture further into the forest.  I had no clue what I was talking about when I wrote the Hellfire post.  Just pick up quests as you go along.   The rewards will come.

Thank God for David Xie!

I couldn’t figure out for the life of me on how to capture a screen shot of a drop down menu on Word 2007 or Excel 2007 using a MacBook running Vista or using the Snipping Tool.  I needed the screen shots for a tutorial that I’m writing up for work.  I got everything else except for the parts where you need to access a drop down menu.  Fn+shift+F11.  Thank God for David Xie!

Windows functions and special keys in MacBook / MacBook Pro / Apple Keyboard

Glyph of Feign Death
Requires Level 30
Use: Reduces the cooldown of your Feign Death spell by 5 sec.

It’s a glyph that lets you wipe aggro faster.  Would be good in a situation where your Gorilla took on more than he can handle.  Dies!  Then the mob comes after you with teeth and claw.  You revive pet after the mob dissipates.  You try again and the same things happens.  But this time the pet doesn’t die and the mob just rushed in.  Duh!  Cower bug.

Glyph of Mend Pet
Requires Level 15
Use: Your Mend Pet spell increases your pet’s happiness slightly.

I hate taking up an item slot just for pet food.  Especially since I can’t remember where I can get Mushrooms and Fruits for my gorilla.  Spirit Bond and this glyph replace the need to carry around food.

Glyph of Possessed Strength
Requires Level 15
Use: Increases the damage your pet inflicts while using Eyes of the Beast by 50%.

Geezus!  What good does this glyph do us?  Well… I pondered and pondered about this glyph since I first saw it.  Then I read something somewhere on a forum or something.  They use Eyes of the Beast to raid towns.  LoL!  Now why didn’t I think of that.  IDK.  So raid ‘um and with this glyph you’ll be extra powerful.  A time killer while waiting for something to sell on the AH?  I guess so.  Beats fishing that’s for sure.

Glyph of Revive Pet
Requires Level 15
Use: Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting Revive Pet by 100%.

While casting Revive Pet your cast time will not get set back by a given amount if you are attacked.  I looked up pushback and found it on WoWWiki.  Good for any situation where your pet dies a lot.  People it’s called Mend Pet.

Glyph of Scare Beast
Requires Level 15
Use: Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting Scare Beast by 75%.

Scram beast scram!  IDK.  What good is this for?  Damn druid get off my leg.

Glyph of the Pack
Requires Level 40
Use: Increases the range of your Aspect of the Pack ability by 15 yards.

Run!  Big Dragon after us!  Run Gorilla run!  Oh sh!t.  My Gorilla was too far away.  /pet dies

GT Lore.

While in Zangarmarsh I noticed that my cooking was at level 295 and that I needed to be at level 300 to become a Master cook.  I knew I needed Darkclaw Lobsters and some lures to finish the job.  I traveled from Outlands back to Azshara for more fishing.  From the flight path I ran past the Naga to the shore.

Just for fun I spotted some floating wreckage and tried to fish it.  After a few attempts I got my first Mithril Bound Trunk.  I opened it.  Inside a Weather-Beaten Journal.  Before I could link it in guild chat or take a screen shot, I read it and learned how to find fish.  I was so excited.  I called out on guild chat, “I found the wheather beaten journal.  I can now find fish.”  I spelled it wrong on guild chat.  All the lower level characters were like, “what’s that?”  My guild leader congratulated me.

Who ever knew that fishing finally would pay itself off.  I continued to fish that node until it disappeared.  Then I fished in the Bay of Storms for the remaing Darkclaw Lobsters.

I’m not done…

I decided since I’m in Azshara that I could finish a part of the only Hunter quest chain.  I needed to complete the quest Wavethrashing.  On the way to the Wavethrashers I found a Cliff Walker.  Ganked him for fun but then he dropped my first purple colored item Lei of Lilies.  On my auctioneer it says this thing sells for 150 G.  Scoring 2 rare drops I decided to head back to the AH post this one.  Hopefully it sells.

Fishing really pays well…

‘Til next time…

Note:  If you check the drop list for the Cliff Walker(on Wowhead or Thottbot)  it says nothing about it dropping the Lei of Lillies.  I must be lucky.

Here is a sketch my friend drew up.  He is practicing drawing artwork for the future look of the blog.  I’m so excited.  Now I need to start working on CSS and enabling the site to use a custom CSS.

Work in progress.

I made it to my “new home base,”  Shattrath City, and tried to fish outside of it.  During the quest Rather Be Fishin’ for Seth’s Graphite Fishing Pole, I ran out of eels to kill.   While waiting for them to respawn I tried fishing.  “Requires skill level of 400” or something like that.  WTF?  I’m only at 195.  I remembered a response to a post I put up on Wowhead’s forums that gave me a good fishing site.  Here it is:

Yes.  I spent hours and hours in Feralas catching fish to level my fishing skill and cooking.  I’m not even done.  I think I should head back to Outlands.  I’m so tired of fishing.  The ironic news is that when I went to visit Nat Pagle to increase my max fishing skill  there was a level 80 leveling his fishing skill.  At least I’m not him.

I would hate to be someone who would be tempted to run some battlegrounds or instances to acquire some epic gear drops.  I’m just in Outlands trying to reach level 80 before some other expansion hits.  I am the king! <== couldn’t think of anything else to say.

I joined Scryer.  Is that bad for me?  Or it doesn’t matter ’cause there is better stuff in Outlands?
