UPDATED FOR 3.2.2
Back when I trained Guntitan’s Journeyman riding skill it cost a lot more and was available at level 60. As of patch 3.2.2 training for your Swift ground mount cost 50 gold and the mount itself cost 50 gold. In total you need 100 gold to get around Azeroth. Here are good tips on how to make gold for your level 40 mount:
- Quest and save the money you get from doing quests. Some quest rewarded items that are soulbound but useless to you sell for 3 or 4 gold at the vendor. Some kill quests will get you some greens or blues off corpses. I sold a green bow that dropped for about 25 gold.
- Kill stuff. Mine stuff. Skin stuff. Just get the stuff.
- Even a full stack of gray or white items can sell for 1 or 2 gold.
- Sell everything that’s not soulbound on the AH. If you have a gathering profession sell full stacks of materials.
- Rinse and repeat.
With the new changes obtaining a mount at level 40 should be quicker than before and having a fast mount early in the game should help us level faster.
Questing and farming at once saved me time. Making gold and leveling probably saved me more time than just trying to buy low and sell high on the AH. I’d rather be killing stuff than sitting in front of an auctioneer all day.

Found something useful for fellow bloggers while looking at World of Warcraft’s homepage. Haven’t figured out a way to utilize this download except for using the WoTLK header pictures for the blog. Download it, unzip it, and use it to pimp out your page.
World of Warcraft: Fansite Kit
I’m using Wowhead and a quest reward item filter. You level 58 hunters are going to love this list.
Head, Chest and Head: Get Legionnaire’s Studded Helm (it looks so ugly on me) with the quest Waste Not, Want Not. Grab the second quest Laying Waste to the Unwanted and grab Scale Brand Breastplate. The second head piece quest chain starts a bit away. Wait until you grab the belt and leg piece before you start to head over there. Start a two part chain In Search of Sedai finish it. Start and finish Makuru’s Vengeance. Then start a 3 part chain that starts with Atonement. Finish the last part and grab Vindicator’s Chain Helm.
Chest: For the first mail chest grab Bonechewer Berserker’s Vest with Zeth’Gor Must Burn! Then refer to the first part of this post on how to obtain Scale Brand Breastplate. I’m not sure which one works better. They are both bind on pick up so I’ll just grab them both and post the results.
Legs: For Battle Scarred Leggings the quest starts at Mission: The Murketh and Shaadraz Gateways. This is the first quest to a chain but you don’t have to finish it unless you want the experience.
Feet: Boots of the Earthcaller
Waist: For Heavy Miner’s Belt start a chain with the quest When This Mine’s a-Rockin’. Finish the chain and grab the belt.
Necklace: Wind Dancer’s Pendant get it with the quest Avruu’s Orb. You need to kill Avruu to get the orb.
2H Axe: Rage Reaver. Get the it from the 2nd part of a chain with one of the first quests you’ll receive in Hellfire.
2H Sword: Helboar Carving Blade
Trinkets: Bladefist’s Breadth and Insignia of the Alliance.
Finger: At level 70 come back here to grab this awesome ring Ring of the Recalcitrant. If you are lucky to find a group of 25 players to do a raid and get the drop required. Grats!

This is what killing with a gorilladin looks like… Dead bodies everywhere…
I’m bad at taking screen shots. I need to turn off Quest Helper and Omen Threat Meter and try to center my objects in between my menus.

Here is the bow that I picked up before I entered Outland.
This is the bow I got from a quest reward in Hellfire. Notice the critical chance rating? 0%.
What’s wrong with my crit chance? I panicked. I thought about writing to good ol’ Big Red Kitty. I thought I discovered something borked. Maybe Blizzard screwed up Outlands when they made Northend. “Maybe it’s because I don’t have a scope equipped,” I thought.
My first night in Hellfire I was so pissed I logged out. There was also a horde with a White Doggy of Doom hunting alliance for no reason.
I thought wrong. I left Outlands the next day. Flew to Stormwind to sell stuff on the AH. Then headed out to Burning Steppes so I could do a mining run. I forgot about switching out my supposedly new bow and started to fire away at some worgs and scorpions…
I would be a happier blogger if there were a Print Screen addon that I could click that creates the screen shot and upload it to WordPress at the same time. As of right I have blog worthy screen shots sitting in my World of Warcraft folder that I have never uploaded to the web.
It would be nice if it did two more things.
- Preview the screen shot before you upload.
- I like how Snipping Tool lets you highlight a spot on your screen. It would be nice if it did that too.
I guess only one person could wish.
I’m happy. I dinged to level 58 today. I’ll soon be heading to Outlands. I’m going to do a mining and engineering skill level run before I go. Back to Un’Goro for mining. I just need to remember to buy some engineering schematics from Everlook before I head back to Ironforge.
How do I make gold to get my next mount?
600 G to train for my Journeyman riding skill.
+ 100 G for my level 60 mount. Swift Brown Ram
– 105 G (15% discount for being revered with Ironforge)
595 G is the amount of gold I need. Sh!t.
Thorium Ore x20 sells for about 40 G on the AH. I could make some money off the AH that way.
I could also sell engineering schematics on the AH like I did last time. I know where to go for that. We’ll see how things go.

1 sec cooldown
The hunter takes on the aspect of the viper, causing ranged and melee attacks to regenerate mana but reducing your total damage done by 50%. In addition, you gain 4% of maximum mana every 3 sec. Mana gained is based on the speed of your ranged weapon. Only one Aspect can be active at a time.
I was on Wowhead and reading a bunch of comments on how this became borked. Tauren shit!
Just think about it for a second before you open your mouths. Before we had to be in combat to receive a mana regenearation buff. Now we can sit idle or ride our mount to our destination and still receive a mana regeneration buff. We don’t have to be in combat. When we are in combat we will receive more mana.
Here is a scenario in which this works out for us.
In battle let’s say our pet is almost dead. We turn on a Mend Pet. Heal! Heal! Heal! All the mobs die but our pet is still low on health. We are out of mana. Turn on Aspect of the Viper. Wait a little while then Mend Pet again. We aren’t in combat but we can still regenerate mana. E’nuff said.
